The Seoul CCR controls around 25- 30 stations including the massive Seoul Station. The code system is a Siemens relay based system (circa. 1970's) with the central panel being all hardwired relays. GRS added a small panel for six stations south of Suwon down to Pyongtaek and the Train Control portion of the system controls all the stations. Sorry, the security in the Seoul CCR prevented me from ever taking pictures there. But it is pretty impressive due to the massive size of several of the interlockings. This system controls the KNR tracks with diesel locomotives as well as some of the electrified commuter and subway lines in and around Seoul Station, south to the Wangshimni area south of the Han River. Approximately 1500 scheduled trains per day move through this system!!! ( that is almost 3 times as many as Grand Central Terminal ) One note of trivia for all you M*A*S*H* fans is that the northern most station on the KNR is Uijongbu which is the village you often hear about on that show. This system was installed from 1988-1992 (maybe 1993). |
